It is with sadness that ACTISA announces the
passing of Life Member John Patterson on the 7th March at John Flynn
Hospital on the Gold Coast.
John was a past President and Treasurer of ACTISA and worked tirelessly
for many years for skating in the ACT at both Club and association
level. He was also a delegate to Ice Skating Australia and member
of the ISA Finance Committee.
With daughters Julie and Shelley skating in solo events and precision
teams, he was always a willing assistant performing many different
tasks at competitions and ice shows. He supported and encouraged
the Kinetic Kids and Knightmoves Precision Skating Teams in the
Australian Figure Skating Championships every year and was a driving
force for Knightmoves to finally to represent Australia at two ISU
International competitions held in Finland and Sweden. John was
also the convener for several successful and busy National Championships
held in Canberra.
John will be remembered by many as hard working with a dry sense
of humour with loyalty to the skaters and support to the sport a
great example for later committees to follow.
On behalf of all the past and present members of ACTISA, we send
our condolences to his wife Jenny, son Glenn, daughters Julie and
Shelley; their families and friends who will miss a gentle man and
good friend.
