Congratulations to
Eiland
Selection for Ice Skating Australia's Junior Development Squad
For the third year running, Eiland Kenyon has been acknowledged
for her continued high level figure skating by ISA, with her selection
into the 2011 Junior Development Squad.
The selection of the 2011 squad–12 singles figure skaters
and eight set of pairs/dance figure skaters–is based on placement
at the 2010 Australian Figure Skating Championship, current development
level and age as at 1 July 2011.
Eiland placed 3rd at the 2010 championships at the development
level of Primary, and has since risen to Novice level, which is
the Division she competed in at the recent Hollins Trophy, in Sydney.
She maintained a lead of over 4 points during the Hollins Trophy
event, resulting in her final placing of gold, an outstanding result.
Selection to the squad includes the opportunity to participate
in the Oceania Junior Development Camp, being held over 5 days at
Iceworld Boondall, Queensland, from 11 July 2011.
Oceania Development Camp
This is the third year since the inception of the Oceania Development
Camp and Eiland has been there since the start.
The Oceania Development Camp is an initiative between the National
Ice (figure) Skating Federations of Australia, New Zealand and other
Oceania countries. The camp has been designed to fast track the
development of young skaters in this region to International Junior
Level. The Oceania camps also provide a unique opportunity for coaches
to collaborate and share ideas.
